For the month of November, Barbara Russell a proud Harlem Arts Alliance curator for the monthly "Under the Radar” art series presents Sonia Barnett a Harlem Arts Alliance member’s newest art series entitled "Liquidation” at The Physical Therapy of Harlem office lobby located at West 116th Street closest to the corner of 5th Ave near the "Deals” Store on Friday November 8, 2013 from 5-7 PM. You are cordially invited to attend this free community event.

Working as a New York City 5th grade public school teacher by day and a prolific abstract Harlem artist by night, Sonia liquidates her emotions on canvas by ditching her wooden paintbrushes for faux computer art tool brushes. Graphically, she illustrates embryotic brush stroke movements to spawn bioactive looking matter, which may resemble the look of a foreign specimen under a b movie microscopic, or that of splattered Halloween pumpkin guts, or perhaps an orange smoothie spill would be the correct interpretation of her "Lace Look Redish Orange” piece. Lets find out. Children are welcome to attend.

When reviewing her "Black bac-blue Impasto Oil” painting, I immediately thought of bright blue lights from cells phone users that illuminate a pathway for nighttime guests to explore new Harlem eateries and the nightlife on Frederick Douglas Blvd as a possible subject for this piece. Perhaps I’m wrong, but Sonia, will be glad to give the right answer during her artist talk that you don’t want to miss!

Sonia has shared her work in over 80 art exhibitions to include Jamaica and Barbados respectively. Visit www.artworksbysb.com. She also won a Manhattan Community Arts Fund Grant for 2010 and is a member of the West Side Art Collation.

Sponsors for this month include Harlem Arts Alliance & DF Mavens Dairy Free Ice Cream.

If you’d like to know more information about the exhibition or to schedule an interview with Sonia Barnett, please call Barbara Russell at 646 620-9324 or email: Brussell3908@gmail.com for an appointment.
