HARLEM ARTS ADVOCACY WEEK 2009




Community-based  organizations panel at HARLEM Arts Alliance Advocacy Week Opening Day included, (L to R): Ramon Rodriguez (Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts), Shirley Faison (National Black Theatre), Laura Gadson (Strivers Art Circuit), Robin Williams (Uptown Dance Academy), Moikgantsi Kgama, (Imagenation Cinema Foundation), Gertrude Jeannette (H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players), and panel moderator Flo Wiley (WHCR-FM).


Representing other boroughs at HARLEM Arts Alliance Advocacy Week Opening Day, were (L to R): Laurie A. Cumbo (MoCADA/Brooklyn), Deidre Scott (Bronx Council on the Arts), and Pritha Singh (Rajkamari Cultural Center/Queens).



Participants at the opening day of HARLEM Arts Alliance Advocacy Week at the Riverside Theatre included Heather Hitchens (Executive Director, New York State Council on the Arts), Voza Rivers (Chairman HARLEM Arts Alliance), Jewel Kinch (Executive Director, Riverside Theatre), Dr. Marta Moreno Vega, Founder & President/Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, and Michael Unthank (Executive Director, HARLEM Arts Alliance).

Attending the opening night reception hosted at Maysles Cinema were Senator Bill Perkins, Voza Rivers (Chairman, HARLEM Arts Alliance), documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles, Joe Wemple, (Chair, Maysles Institute)  and Michael Unthank (HAA Executive Director).


Barbara Askins, President and CEO of the 125th Street Business Improvement District (BID) makes her BID on Culture presentation at Day 2 of HARLEM Arts Alliance Advocacy Week at the Dwyer Cultural Center.

Audience gathered at the Dwyer Cultural Center listening to arts and business partnerships panel on Day 2 of HARLEM Arts Alliance Advocacy Week.
