Jazzmobile Concert featuring Winard Harper and Friends

Doors open at 5:30pm; Showtime 6:00pm
Tickets: Pre-sale $10; At the door $15

The 3rd annual "Visionaries & Dreamers Weekend 2012” will conclude at FCBC with the highly celebrated and Mayoral championed Jazzmobile featuring international drummer and famed Lincoln Center Musician Winard Harper. Having played in the 1980s with such notable musicians as Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, and Betty Carter, Harper became known for his identifiable eccentric rhythmic sound. From 1988 to 1993 he contributed to the phenomenal success of The Harper Brothers where he worked alongside a collective of Jazz’s most eclectic artists such as Justin Robinson, Javon Jackson and Walter Blanding. As his career progressed Harper would go on to record several albums, and also form his own sextet, while performing at various notable venues including New York City’s prestigious Lincoln Center.

"We (the City of New York) continue to celebrate (Jazzmobile) and its phenomenal work…” -Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg

Founded in 1964 by Daphne Arnstein and Dr. William "Billy" Taylor, the Jazzmobile is a multifaceted, outreach organization committed to bringing "America's Classical Music"—Jazz—to the largest possible audience by way of concerts, festivals and special events worldwide.
