In honor of the 1 st Anniversary of the Community Matters NYC initiative: Join Community Works NYC, The Interchurch Center, NoMAA and Harlem Arts Alliance at the opening reception for two special exhibitions, featuring a guest performance by Bobby Sanabria & Quarteto Aché.

The evening will include: Special guest performance by multiple Grammy nominee Bobby Sanabria & Quarteto AchéMeeting the Honorees and ArtistsA silent auction offering art, artifacts and treasures from local artisans and businesses.About the exhibits: Latin Roots: Washington Heights/Inwood  honors four local activists & celebrates the neighborhood's distinct cultural and historical importance. It includes a pictorial timeline on the community's rich history. A companion exhibit, Spirit of Community: Artists of Washington Heights/Inwood, features the work of eight artists, all of whom illustrate the timeless role the arts play in shaping, informing and documenting culture. For more information call 212-459-1854

  This is a public art and exhibition program of Community Works NYC as part of its Community Matters NYC initiative. This program is supported, in part, by Con Edison, The Emily Davie and Joseph S. Kornfeld Foundation,  The Joseph S. and Diane H. Steinberg 1992 Charitable Trust, and West Harlem Development Corporation Fund of Tides Foundation; and by public funds from National Endowment for the Arts, New York City Council Members Inez E. Dickens and Robert Jackson, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, and New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
